WHITE SANDS POEM

As I was going through an old box of letters, I found this jewel of a poem written by my dear friend, Cossy Hough. With her permission I decided to share it with you.

WHITE SANDS POEM
Cossy Hough - 1988
Escape:
He disappeared
Virtually
Unnoticed
Alone
Heading towards the unoccupied hills
where, he told us when he returned,
he had walked naked and wrote poetry.
Buried himself in the cool earth covering body and face
emerging an old man—
White lashes, streaked hair
showing us the tiny dead tree he had found among the mites of soft sands.
And with a mellow smile
he planted it straight
agreeing as we left, next time
we’d stay for sunset.

C.H. 1988

Love the poem! Thank you, Cossie!

THIS STORY IS STILL UNDER REVISION. MORE TO COME!
